XM Issues Statement About RIAA Lawsuit

Screw the RIAA and IFPA. Stop buying your music and start pirating. Reverse example for me. I sorta miss the F2F piracy of the olden days but it is still easier with CDs than with DVDs. Emule works just fine too, and theres lots more stuff pooled together. The RIAA really desparately wants a pay-per-listen or pay-per-play business model. I won’t buy it. If its about their hack-ability, ITunes is no better.

If XM ends up looking grim they’d better dump their entire music archive onto the filesharing network before the repo-men invade (could be as short as 30 days after judgement, 7 for corporate). Dump all proprietary IP too (copies), and make sure it is pre-emptive but only when you know you’re goonna loose (bankruptcy via excessive frivolous litigaation by the RIAA is more predictable than a bad judgement). They’re gonna want that too. Satellite schematics, XM player schematics, network infrastructure software code, those things. You’ll be too dead anyway from the RIAA lawsuit collections.

I know how vicious the TSR vs GDW lawsuit (frivilous copyright claims) in retaliation for Gary Gygax’s defection and his outstanding Mythus / Dangerous Journeys product was. I’d recommend defending in court till bankruptcy (The RIAA wants you their slave or dead anyway) and then dumping to P2P just a day or two priorbankruptcy-forced settlement in the RIAA’s favor. Name the files well! non-mainstream piracy must be very searchable but will spread rapidly, if people want it.? Make it appear legal too because corporate-warez (the music library is no issue though) has a higher sharing fear-factor.? BearShare shouldv’e done the same thing despite lower robin-hood value to the world, but still more benefit than harm on aggragete. I would call it the WaReZ-QuaTuM-DeToNaToR - Take the Quantum detonator from Master of Orion 2 - an enhanced destructiveness and more sensitive self destruct device for starships - and piracy. Big Big Boom when deafeated/boarded, but the blast benefits those around you (indiscriminately so don’t hate too many people) instead of blowing them to bits.

Emule can be your library. In addition to bypassing the law and being difficult to be under survaillence (mostly b/c of large number of suspicious but dead-ends having bad chemistry with the overburgeoning and badly backlogged FBI beaucracy), you got no take-out limit, no due dates, no reservations (already checked out; no limited supply), and no fines. Its not quite there yet and progress is currently stagnet, but if you like roleplaying games, science, politics, or computers, Emule is better than the real library (about equal on science and polotics). Thats because when you download or upload a book, one or more of the machine-automated collaboration of uploaders (both passive and active; passive bigger role in Emule / EDonkey and Azeurous / BitTorrent) manufactures (most likely not copyright-legally though! depends on book(s) possibly other kinds of illegal in other countries) part or all of the book and ships it to you, to keep for free!

So much for Austrailia being one of the free-est countries in the world. At least one can assume assets as strictly investment type assets as goods are excluded (but are technically assets in accounting terms), and goods probably assumes files. So Emule’s indiscriminate distribution of files would make every file-sharer in austrailia a crinimal of sedition or treason if they wanted to include information or data in the law.

Are 3500 German eDonkey file sharers really facing criminal prosecution?

Basically they setup a fake server ( Lugdunum eserver ED2K Edonkey / Emule server formerly DServer from MetaMachine ) in Germany. I don’t think they falsified its stats or returned bogus results like the RIAA’s fake servers. I think it was a fully functional server sitting on the bottom of the list (assuming it is sorted by files or users). That makes the fake more difficult to detect at the expense of the ability to perform network sabotage (such as DOS attacks, fake file implantation, virus implantation, bogus search results).

They got 40,000 total IP addresses. I Don’t know if its 40,000 from logins only or if that included remote-server UDP queries, but I think its logins-only. A off-server UDP query to the fake does not reveal your share list but it does tell it some of the files that you’re downloading, if it tracks these requests (or even accepts the requests). Logging into a fake tells it EVERYTHING THAT YOU ARE SHARING AND DOWNLOADING though. Seems about 3,500 of them were unambigously German-only IP addresses (static IPs or the ISP doesn’t cross borders). 40,000 IPs total unique IPs over two weeks with 3,500 from a high-usage country suggests a very small server. They got search warrants for people sharing more than 500 files which amounted to only 130. So that means about 3200 of the 3500 people sued were sorry-ass leeches with maybe 50-100 of those leeches very high-bandwidth and active users. I also bet that 100 of the 130 people got got search warrants were high-turnover leeches, or just leave most of their share volumes in their incoming folder as they are too lazy to organize it. That would make their sharing disposition ignormance or apathy and not outright deliberate.

Proving release is extremely difficult, but passive incoming-sharing vs lazy or delibrate procrastination of removing from incoming vs deliberate permshare is easy after search/seizure or forsensic HD-copying. They can determine average age of a file in the incoming folder by the modified dates as no dates are retrieved from the server or other peers. Also, external media is irellevant as share-evidence unless the search warrent finds evidence of CD/DVD or external drive rotation - ie.. the drive leter for the CD/DVD-drive or a currently connected external hard drive is marked as shared in Emule and other DVDs/external hard drives have an obviously similar structure and/or naming patern.

I don’t know how they filtered for ‘music-only’. I guess they only looked for music file extensions or they also keyword searched archives (.RARed discoagrphies and albums). Going by the UK article (top link), it looks like only music file extensions were counted and archives neglected (ED2K works better with the archives). It is difficult to download every file they have or to count the .MP3s inside the archives without dowloading first as requesting an archive preview from a seeding peer (complete source, incoming or permashare) without having chunks first never seems to work. So i’m pretty sure it is a strict file count and I bet most people either were downloading and/or sharing individual .mp3s or unpack their album or discography archives from their incoming folder to their incoming folder and never clean up after it.

Search warrants for >500 file sharers that found very few shares on the actual seizures mean that they siezed a computer of a very active, high-bandwidth leech, and that the fake SpyServer counts global unique files and not max unique files of a single point-in-time. They download lots of shit and very promptly remove it from their incoming folder when the downloads complete and permashare nothing. They are leeches with lots of bandwidth. They suck but not as much as leecher-mod users which are activly hunted down and banned by many Emule-mods. The official emule doesn’t do this, which represents 85-90% of users on ED2K/KAD), but they do ban GPL violators, which is about half of the leecher mods and many of the creators of these GPL-violator mods are involved in fraudulant activity (charge money for free software and/or implant spyware or trojans)

And I’m pretty sure up to a dozen of the search warrants had one more more pedoporn or teenyporn files (more likely teeny) with maybe only 1 or 2 actually true pedophiles and these 1 or 2 pedophiles probably just watchers not the actual molesters or releasers and they probably would not be likely to rape or molest a kid themselves.

Most of the hardcore sharers keep their IP blockers up to date and don’t connect to lesser servers as they know how to set server priorities and look out for wierdness in the server stats. Too bad the police effort mostly cleansed the network of a small amount of leeches and noobs, especially if only music file extensions were counted and the MP3-filled archives neglected. They do make for better example-making though.

We need more indifferent sharers. Too many noobs, too many leeches, and too many people who download and share ONLY mainstream, in-trend piracy have moved over from bittorrent. I like the homemade stuff, abandonware, and viral marketing just as much as i like the pirated files and I like to download and share both indifferently (and actual ‘downloading’ for keeps/hoarding/offline viewing/burning is difficult through google or youtube they prefer you to stream).

This was over a year ago. DVD XCopy is still well sourced on Emule, cracks and all. If you want DVD XCopy, Piracy is now the ONLY means of acquiring it. There is other software that is better now though. The version of Nero that cracked CSS is on Emule too although it is discontinued.

You’d better keep many copies of your hoard at multiple venues. Make sure your hoard-favorites are well sourced on Emule (Only Emule can out-copy the cops/FBI; multivenue copies only negates single-venue warrants spinning off from spurt-busting). And buy several depreciated formerly high-end used computers off of Ebay instead of a brand-new top of the line one. If you end up in jail and the sentence isn’t too long, you could do some analog-analog file sharing - that is human to human gossip. Only death can ‘disable’ that computer though it is analog, imprecise, unreliable, and without the internet, very limited range, but at least the analog circutry can make some wicked insights and ideas. And Analog brains can possess and distribute WaReZ too… Thats why people kill people over what they know.

Found them out on a series of tangents. Started out with police chase video & Anti-bush clip. Then I searched for all files released by ‘r00zfilez’ (b/c of anti-bush and copchase) which led to some wicked freestyhle breakdancing. Then I looked for Cico and freestyle breakdancing and that brought up the team ryou videos as a minority which I liked better than the rest. Then I searcched for Acrobatics and found videos on Dean Alexandrou and Joe Eigo and followed the links in the videos. Only Dean Alexandrou and Team Ryouko had good sites and only yours has all the emule stuff hosted (+ torrents for Team Ryouko).

Dish Network called me 5 times in two days (I didn’t answer any of the calls). I looked up 866-668-8047 and found it its from Dish Network and that many people already found out that if you call it it goes directly to a customer service rep, bypassing all the ‘press 1′, ‘press’ 3 etc… automation. I called it myself and it works! And I found out that Dish Network is desparately trying to sell premium movie channel packages. I don’t need them. I either buy the DVD or download from Emule or both (download and eventually buy later).

So Dish Network’s telemarketing program is going to cost them in the long run - the need to hire more customer service reps or pay more overtime because the of exploit that was uncovered - calling 866-668-8047 goes direct to a rep! Feel free to use it to vent and whine all you want! They’re only going to call you 10 times a week (if you don’t answer) to sell you shit anyway.

Updated: Got two more calls today. I answered the second call (4th today) and got a really dumb girl that could barely speak english, let alone sell a showtime movie package.

Rember, instead of 1-800-333-DISH, call 1-866-668-8047 to get direct to a human! I think it bypasses the hold-queue too! Idiots.

My company blocked myspace for a day. The network admin’s disagreement combined with my big mouth made the block last just a few days. I’m pretty sure the unblocking was without permission or aproval. He quit and walked-out midday yesterday. I’m only a casual fan of MySpace creating an account mostly with Peer Pressure from Erik.

I think kiddy porn is illegal in almost all countries but poorly enforced in many.? Also Teeny porn is completly legal in a large number of countries and simply a lesser crime in others like the UK, but in the USA, a 15-year old is the same as 5-year old as far as the charges and prison sentences are concerned.? I don’t support most kiddy porn enforcement laws because I know other topics will follow.? So many people are so willing to give up their rights when it comes to kiddy porn (and terrorism now).? Opens up many avenues of tyranny.? Emule works with Kiddy and Teeny porn the same way I use it to help China gets bibles (facilitiate child pornography indulgement - USA vs organized worship induldgement - China) and will as long as their is no world-level jurisdiction.? My father is ISTP and my mother is INFJ and I am INTP (InT*P). I think if I wasn??t austistic I think I would in the ISTP or INTP range. I think i am more genetically ??S?? than ??N?? but it is mild mild enough for me to swayed to ??N?? by my mother-dominant upbringing (b/c of divorce). My autism is definitly amplifying my T and I (more pronounced on T).

As for Enneagram I know I am a 5 with a fairly equal 4 and 6. My mother is type 9. I am unsure of my Father’s Enneagram type. I think it is 5 with a lot of 3 and 6-wing but I’m not all that sure. I’m 5 then 9 then 4 then 6 (5 has clear lead, 9 moderatley separated from 4, 4 just a tiny bit ahead of 6). I’m pretty sure my Autism has boosted all my withdrawn types (I was probably already 5 but now i’m just that more of a 5 as autistic and my 4 and 6 are elevated also and the 9 is probably equal share of autsim and mother-dominant upbringing).

These rare and hatelists are by far small minority or outright rare on Emule but I watch out for them

Oh yeah I completed the Kitaro Discography but it was currupt, but an archive repair was able to recover about a third of the archive (800-850MB). Previewing an archive in Emule makes Emule ‘repair’ the incompletely downloaded archive and give you a preview. Its how you spot passworded archives before you complete them (seems to only be common in music).

And I met 3 guys who are immigrated into the USA from the Middle East, each from Jordan, Egypt, and Kuwait. Despite being fresh immigrants, they are already very americanized. One can’t wait for a song to even be downloaded by bittorrent. Had to stream it. I finally convicned him to wait for the Emule Album archives though but was dissapointed to have to wait till tommorrow. They are well versed in English because they said their arabic schools teach them English at young ages and many educated arab people are bi-lingual. Also I learned that 27 countries speak Arabic and their dialects are more compatible with each other than the various spanish dialects are (Spain, Mexico, Central America, Pacific South America, Argentina. I’m currently hoarding a CDs worth of Arabic MP3s for them (Amr Diab, Elissa, etc…). Yup Muzic for them ‘terrorist’ muslims are abound on Emule, mostly shared by Arabs abroad (outside the middle east like Europe and USA).

And you god damn christain people are the worst leeches imaginable. Share the shit if you like it. Gave out 20 copies of the PDF bible collection and not one other rperson sharing it. Have 4 other files at 10-20 copies and still no new long-term seeds/complete sources.

I don’t think any country should make themselves dependent on continual handouts. There are reactors that don’t need enriched uranium like CANDU or Advanced_Heavy_Water_Reactor (The latter runs on Thorium actually). If Iran can be made able to make its own heavy water (D2O) in addition to building and operating one or both of CANU or Advanced Heavy Water Reactors I would support it. Otherwise if they have to kiss ass for their nuke fuel, i’d probably tell everybody to kiss my ass if I were running Iran. I think 70% of my Autistic traits come from my Father and 30% from my Mother, but my Mother might be more likely to parent an autistic person than my father because of the type of people each is attracted too. My father has a dumb/strong and a smart/down to earth geneline and my mom is average intelligence but more dreamer/emotional and I seem to be a dreamier version of my father.

With natural selection not looking down on High-Functing Autsim and Asperger’s anymore, I’m pretty sure if a right genetic niche is found (max intellectual boost min sensory and language deficit), it could end up spinning off a new para-human race without the need for genetic engineering. I bet there would be tens or even hundreds of thousands of super-einsteins if HFA and AS people and high-IQ non-ASD people were selectively bred for intelligence and wisdom like the colonial negro slave-farms of western Africa in the 16th-18th centeries were bred for muscle and obediance (dumbness implied). I’m pretty sure about 70% of the major technological advances in the world is from an AS/HFA person, including the Nuke Bomb (indirect from Einstein).

They neglected Emule (ED2K+KAD+Direct Source Exchange) and its Mods. MorphXT has fakes.dat and both the vanilla and mods can preview archives. I download most of my music in album or discography archives. It is important to keep an up to date IP Blocker and to keep out the fake servers. Kazzaa is a joke. I usually spot fakes before i’ve downloaded 25% of the file. Most fakes for music are encrypted/passworded archives and have about 50% coverage in fakes.dat and are spotted easily in previews.

Also outside of Sepultura and Soulfly I rarely buy music without downloading it in some form first. I wouldn’t never bought most mainstream artists without a download. I didn’t know I liked Linkin Park until I downloaded some homemade Final Fantasy AMVs with them as the music. I downloaded all the albums from Emule and only really liked Meteora and Hybrid Theory. I probably will eventually get the CDs if I can get them cheap ($7 avg price or lower — BMG/ColumbiaHouse).

I never buy DRMd-crap. No to Napster and ITunes. And no to WB’s DRM-mutated BitTorrent. I buy CDs and rip. If they go extinct then I download from Emule and then …maybe… buy from Itunes and then delete the files and keep the Emule version.

Lucky it isn’t more. I use 30-90GB on my 14Kup/down (for Emule) Verizon Wireless internet connection. This looks like the UK and not like India or SE Asia. You can even get an unlimited bandwidth connection 128K/128K (’nights’ 9pm-6am only though) in India. The business owner is stupid for signing such an rip-off ISP contract in the first place.

My College, SUNY Institude of Technology, banned unsecured folder sharing on the local network in 1998. It doesn’t block you from have all kinds of warez, moviez, and mp3z in a passworded network share though. It affected me much more than the global campus because i’m not very socially adept or connected and wasn’t motivated to hack because more warez could be gotten from the web but just not as easily (but easier than hacking given patience). But I still have several MP3s from 1997 though. I pretty sure the school has banned all file-sharing, internal or external, but maybe not since my lack of a subtlety and moderation has catalyzed many new rules in 1998.

I remember after ‘hacking’ the AS/400 (it was a no-code no-tool no-dict/brute crack navigation manipulation loophole), i got invited into a warez group only to publiize their IRC channel and FTP servers after realizing I wouldn’t event come close to my inititiation curry-quota so lots of people could have lots of warez without rules and secrecy and need for social connections. Thats why I like Emule so much plus adding all the ‘rare-gem’ homebrew and other rare but cool stuff. Some of the rare stuff is legal, most is grey becuase they are illegal derivitive works like most anime-music videos or star trek vs babylon 5 or depict illegal activity like street-racing, a little bit is not legal at all — non-mainstream niche commercial products and confidential leakage.

I remember hacking a distro in college times too, which was a hacked corporate account. It was run by a rookie group because they put their password in the javascript code on their site, so their was no real hacking there either. I cleaned and filtered the collection and merged my and their hoards on both ends and used it to spam the newsgroups and bring traffic to my site (primarily with PhotoShop 4). It was getting me over 1000 pageviews per day. Later i learned that posting a list of porn newsgroups to all the porn newsgroups got me 3000 hits a day. I got busted at school for it though because I wasn’t 100% accurate in separating religion and politics out from the porn. Got my dormroom port and on-campus accounts disabled for the rest of the year and put on school-probation. I adapted fairly well though, using the computer labs for internet and outside free-accounts for email and webhosting, and I was able to run all kinds of illegal (school) experimental stuff on my own computer because my port was to disabled for me to get busted for for the software to affect the network. The only reason i got a job after school is because I use the same spam philosphy with my resume on all the job sites, even hacking and exploiting illegal resume-amenities (usually just popping up to my own server on sites that didn’t filter html or javascript). I usually fail the interviews though. Had over 3 dozen intervies in 2 months and 50-150 page views per day on my own-server resume page. I really suck with people but spam and exploitation really works. I would never get a job without paraental or program assistance without the Internet. I never would’ve gotten hooked up up with MLS without meeting Chungy in an IRC channel (most of the priviliges came from the coach like me though).

I remember finding a querystring exploit at SpinLife and my boss actually manually scraped the personal information of every one of their customers and used it primarily to spam them both email and snailmail, using order history to help focus the spam (I only dug up the exploit the scraping i didn’t feel like doing because it was boring and tedious). The exploit is still there, but the pathway is changed and slightly more convoluted, but it is still futzing with the unecrypted querystring. The same can be done with cookies too - hack the server by futzing with their values. Firefox has plugins that make this easy without hacking know-how.

I’ve discovered plenty of infected files from Emule. Every single one of them are standalone cracks and No-CD cracks for games (infected .exe inside archive). Disdain .EXEs (the small ones are often mob-created trojans) and scan your incoming folder before you start assimilating stuff, expecially if you are downloading NoCD cracks and standalone cracks and keygens. Softwares with cracks bundled are always clean and the reare onese mostly are too. And bundled cracks always work….? Forget about Kazaa.? You can’t explicitly search for archives and many many .exes are Virus infected.? BearShear is in-between.? I don’t know why Rick likes BearShear so much.? Emule is far better.? BearShear is no more anyway, not Open Source / GPL / Copyleft.
